Sir David K.P. Li is Chairman and Chief Executive of The Bank of East Asia, Limited.

Sir David has been a prime mover in the development of Hong Kong’s financial infrastructure for over 40 years. He represented the Finance Constituency in the Legislative Council of Hong Kong from 1985 to 2012. He is a Director of a number of prominent public companies, both in Hong Kong and overseas.

Sir David is a strong supporter of educational causes. He is Pro-Chancellor of The University of Hong Kong, and is also the Founder and Chairman of the Friends of Cambridge University in Hong Kong and the Prince Philip Scholarship Scheme.

He is Chairman of the INSEAD North East Asia Council, Chairman of the Cambridge Judge Business School China Advisory Committee, and a Member of the Chinese University of Hong Kong S.H. Ho College Advisory Board.

Among his many commitments to registered charities, Sir David is Chairman of The Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Command Advisory Board, and Chairman of St. James’ Settlement. 

Sir David holds an MA in Economics and Law from the University of Cambridge, and was conferred an honorary doctorate by the University in 1993. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
